The aim of this session is to introduce different visualisation techniques but specifically related to goal setting, both for personal development and for entrepreneurship and planning. Through this session, the aim is to support educators to apply some different goal-setting activities in their teaching practice.
By completing this session, educators will be able to apply creative practices, including visualisation activities, to their teaching practice to engage learners from diverse backgrounds in inclusive education activities.
- This lesson begins with PowerPoint slides that provide an overview of how visualisation techniques can be used for goal-setting and also includes some different techniques that can be used to support learners to set short-term and long-term goals, in their personal and professional lives. These slides provide an overview of the value of setting goals for maintaining motivation, and how this can link to building basic skills in entrepreneurship for diverse learners. Through the PowerPoint slides, you will also be supported to apply some different activities for goal setting through your teaching practice, by giving concrete examples.
- Next, you are invited to watch these YouTube videos which present what WOOP is, how to practice the visualisation technique of WOOP and also how to set SMART Goals.
- Next, you can review a set of activity sheets that will introduce you to the WOOP technique and also include some activities on setting short-term and long-term goals and SMART Goals. The aim of these activity sheets is that you complete the activity first and you can then transfer this activity to learners in your group.
- Complete a series of self-reflection questions to assess how you can incorporate specific visualisation activities for goal-setting into your teaching practice for a multicultural group.
